Northeast Lakeview College History |
|
Northeast
Lakeview College was officially established in January 2007 as the fifth
institution of the Alamo Community Colleges. However, the campus traces its beginnings back to 1996 as the Northeast Learning Center, an extension of St. Philip's College. In June 2000, ACCD
purchased a site at 7990 Pat Booker Road with the first classes being
held at Northeast Campus in 2001. Northeast Campus, now an extension of
San Antonio College and St. Philip's College enrolled 500 students -
many of whom had previously attended classes at St. Philip's College- Northeast Learning Center on Toepperwein. Classes were held at this location until 2006 when ACCD purchased and renovated a former grocery store at 8300 Pat Booker Road, its current location.
Enrollment continues to grow rapidly, increasing from 500 students in 2001 to more than 3,050 today. The new Northeast Lakeview College campus will open its doors in Fall 2008.
