Kinesiology Club Hosts 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament

NLC students playing basketball(December 10, 2009) The Northeast Lakeview College Kinesiology Club, in conjunction with the Office of Student Development, Leadership and Activities hosted a 3 on 3 Co-ED Basketball Tournament recently. 14 teams were registered and participated in the event, but only one team could come away with the top prize.

Congratulations to the 1st place team: Bryan Brooks, Chris Dodd, Jerry Salazar, and Karl Switzer and the 2nd place team: A.J. Cobb, Tre Parker, Cory Urbanik, and Yaney Vega.




NLC Anthropology & Archaeology Club Participate in Dig

Archaeology Club members digging(December 8, 2009) The Northeast Lakeview College Anthropology & Archaeology Club recently participated in a dig at the Gault Site near Florence, Texas. The Gault site is a 70 acre site, located midway between Georgetown and Ft. Hood Texas, and has a long history of archaeological investigation as well as uncontrolled artifact digging. Clovis layers at Gault date to around 13,500 years ago.




Congressman Lamar Smith Hosted an Education & Financial Aid Workshop

Rep. Lamar SmithCongressman Lamar Smith, 21st District of Texas, hosted an Education & Financial Aid Workshop at Northeast Lakeview College on December 5th. Hosted by Smith, the workshop featured Kevin Campbell from the U.S. Department of Education and provided information on the various college financial aid options, tuition assistance, and the process of filling out the free application for federal student aid (FAFSA). The workshop was open to all students, parents, teachers, and counselors in Smith’s service area.
