Acquisitions & Collection Development

We encourage faculty to be active participants in developing the Northeast Lakeview Library collection. Requests can be submitted online via the online request form or submitted by e-mail to the Library Director. We ask that faculty keep in mind our collection guidelines which are described here. Policies for collection development are under review and will be in support of the Northeast Lakeview College Mission.

Collection guidelines are being developed to provide the principles on which the Northeast Lakeview College Library collections are built. This policy will prioritize collection guidelines keeping in mind that libraries are limited in funding, staff time, and space and must allocate resources in a manner that prioritizes the main Mission of the college.

As an integral part of the academic program of Northeast Lakeview College, the Northeast Lakeview College Library's collection development policy has these main functions listed in order of importance:

I. To select, acquire, and provide access to materials in a variety of formats that support and enhance NLC curriculum and programs by providing collections that are balanced, supportive, and authoritative.
II. To supplement course materials.
III. To facilitate faculty research.
IV. To select, acquire, and provide access to materials in a variety of formats that encourage the general pursuit of knowledge and lifelong learning.
