Offering great service can be easy when things are going well. You usually don't learn about an organization's true service character until something goes wrong. In today's competetive service environment merely correcting the problem isn't always enough. Many situations require Service Recovery which is a specific set of actions which customer-oriented organizations take whenever there's a disappointment for the customer. Notes: Facilitator: TBA

Class of Nonviolence
(Closed)
Faculty Development
11/14/2008 9:00 AM 8 Hrs. Location: Pecan Hall 116
The Class of Nonviolence was developed by former Washington Post columnist Colman McCarthy, founder of the Center for Teaching Peace in Washington, D.C. He has taught the class to more than 10,000 students, in venues as diverse as suburban and inner city high schools; American University; Georgetown Law School and prisons. Since he gave permission to the San Antonio peaceCENTER to put the material online five years ago, hundred of schools and community groups throughout the world have reported that they are using the material to teach nonviolence. The class was designed to be taught in a semester; the peaceCENTER usually compresses it into eight 2-hour sessions. In this one-day workshop only five of the readings will be assigned (although participants will be provided with the entire collection of 48 essays.) The readings will be supplemented with film clips and hands-on activities taken from "The Facilitator's Manual for the Class of Nonviolence," published in 2007 by PeaceCENTER Books.
