NVC Assistant Professor of Music Katharine “Katchie” Cartwright, Ph.D.,  has been selected as this year’s “Jazz Queen” by the Musicians’ Society of San Antonio.

She was named Thursday, April 16 on KRTU 91.7 FM, Trinity University’s jazz radio station. Bassist Joel Dilley was named the “Jazz King.”

Cartwright and her husband, saxophonist Richard Oppenheim, are also performing at Fiesta’s King William Fair on Saturday, April 25 from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m. at Pat’s Pub Stage. They will perform with Stompy Jones & the Jumpin’ Punkins.
