Find books / media at Northwest Vista College and other ACCD colleges.

You can check out books, CDs and videos / DVDs.They are all located in the west wing of the library.
You will need your student ID or a valid picture ID in order to check out materials.

Art books are found in the N section in both the checkout and reference areas.
• To find books about specific artists (example: Andy Warhol), use keyword searching in the library catalog
• Paintings by title can be found using the indexes in books about an artisit or in general art books.
• To find general art books, use the subject search: Art History OR scan the N area in reference or checkout.

Search the NVC catalog for books, ebooks, CDs, and DVDs or search the collections of all ACCD libraries. Books from other ACCD campuses can be requested at the Reference Desk. They will be delivered in 3 to 4 days.

Texshare cards
If you want to check something out from another library in town, you can use a Texshare card to do this. Just stop by the Reference Desk and we will give you a Texshare card that will allow you to check out books from other academic libraries here in San Antonio.


Online Databases - Find Articles

The online databases give you access to thousands of scholarly journals, magazines, newspapers and materials from books. Use your original PALS username and password to log in to the databases from off campus.

ArtStor - comprised of approximately 300,000 digital images and associated catalog data; the tools to make active use of those images; and a restricted environment that seeks to balance the interests and needs of users with those of content providers. The Charter Collection will provide students, faculty, curators, and staff with access to a large and expanding resource of digital images and data for teaching and research in art history, as well as - more broadly - in the humanities and other disciplines.

Grove Art Online - Online version of 34 volume set, covers all forms of the visual arts including painting, sculpture,architecture, graphic and decorative arts, and photography from prehistory to the 1990s.

Art Museum Image Gallery - a rich digital resource of art images and related multimedia gathered from the collections of distinguished museums around the world. It is a rich digital resource of art images, right-cleared for educational use. Cultures and time periods represented range from contemporary art, Native American and Inuit art, to ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian works, along with Japanese and Chinese works. The database includes numerous multimedia files.

Academic Search Premier - contains full text for nearly 4,650 serials, including more than 3,600 peer-reviewed publications. This scholarly collection offers information in computer sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, ethnic studies, and many more. For search tips, click on the Help link in the right corner.

Biography Resource Center - Comprehensive database of biographical information on more than 185,000 people from throughout history, around the world, and across all disciplines and subject areas. It contains approximately 250,000 biographies from respected Gale Group sources.
