Online Databases - Find Articles

The online databases give you access to thousands of scholarly journals, magazines, newspapers and materials from books. Use your original PALS username and password to log in to the databases from off campus.

Academic Search Complete - contains full text for nearly 4,650 serials, including more than 3,600 peer-reviewed publications. This scholarly collection offers information in computer sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, ethnic studies, and many more. Daily Life through History & World Cultures Today - Combining two rich databases to provide a comprehensive, cross-disciplinary resource that supports history, social studies, English, and language students, Daily Life Online gives life to history and context to current events. The full text of books and articles from Greenwood Press includes material on world cultures and history. For search tips, click on the Help link in the right corner.

Historical New York Times - A deep backfile of the New York Times through 2002. Here you can search for articles, obituaries, letters and see the full image of page. This database does NOT include the most current years. Click on search tips link for help.

History Resource Center (World) - Full-text articles from more than 100 academic journals, and maps and images. Full-text and facsimile images for over 1,400 primary source documents from Primary Source Microfilm collections are also included in the collection. Click on the search tips link for help.

History Resource Center (U.S.) - Integrated collection of primary documents, secondary reference sources, and journal articles covering all areas of U.S. history from pre-colonial times to the present day. It combines more than 1,000 primary documents with the broad background and overview coverage found in more than a dozen reference sources from the Gale Group. Click on the search tips link for help.

JSTOR - Search the full text of many scholarly journals in the arts, literature, botany, ecology and the social sciences. This database has the complete run of each journal title and results will be shown in their original image. Acrobat Reader must be installed to view these articles. The most recent 3-5 years of each journal title are NOT available here. For recent articles, please use another database or ask the Reference Librarian on duty to help you.

Student Research Center - A search interface designed specifically for secondary school students according to their needs and search abilities. Users can easily pre-determine which content sources (e.g., Magazines, Newspapers, Biographies, Country Reports, Film & Video) will be included with their search or search databases through topic headings.
