The Educator Preparation Program (EPP) is designed to offer professionals in the workforce an alternative to teaching in public schools versus the traditional university certification programs. This program will meet the needs of individuals who currently hold a bachelor’s degree and are interested in a non-traditional route to obtain teacher certification. This certification helps address the teacher shortage in specific content areas in our state. Our program is approved by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) and meets the “No Child Left Behind” (NCLB) requirements. The entire program consists of 200 hours of content course work, 120 contact hours of Pedagogy and Professional Responsibility course work and a one-year internship. Non-traditional Financial Aid does not qualify for this certification program. Tuition Assistance is available from several private institutions providing continuing education loans at competitive interest rates while providing a loan deferral period in most cases while you complete the program.
