Bio/Teaching Philosophy
I am currently teaching Introduction to Psychology. I love the field I chose to go into and want to impart that same excitement to my students. Although many of them will not major in psychology, I believe part of my responsibility as their instructor is to not only teach them about psychology but also provide them with information they will be able to use in other areas of life as well. My teaching philosophy is student-centered. I want my students to be excited about learning and to feel comfortable asking questions. I also want my students to learn research skills that will be applicable as they continue their educations. Therefore, I teach my students how to look up and understand the different sections of a research article; this also ties into encouraging them to think critically.

In addition to teaching, I also practice as a mental health therapist, conduct social studies for child custody matters, and teach a co-parenting class for divorced parents. I hope to complete my Ph.D. in late 2010; my area of research is autism and equine therapy.
