Bio/Teaching Philosophy
I am a San Antonio Native. I have traveled to different cities and countries for work and vacation, but San Antonio is home. I am married with a family and each day with them is a blessing.
I have always enjoyed the learning process. Although I initially had reservations about pursuing any advanced degrees, I discovered with each class there were new experiences. I began to realize the only limitations were the ones I set for myself. As my self confidence grew, so did my desire to learn more. My love for learning has also developed into a love of teaching. I have been teaching continuing education courses since 1991.
Learning is an experience that occurs over our life. I believe that learning is the key to experiencing life. We begin at birth, learning about and experiencing the world around us. Each day is a process in personal growth. Understanding our true self provides an understanding of our world. We are privileged to live in a country and a time when the right to pursue happiness is possible. But we must understand what happiness truly is for us, individually. I believe truth and happiness are intertwined. We seek the truth in order to gain knowledge and with this knowledge we find happiness. Psychology provides the possibility to understand our true self and subsequently understand how we affect each other and the world around us. Happiness, truth, knowledge, and learning, are the key components that make for an enriched life. A life filled with love and a life fulfilled with positive interaction. For each student, I hope to provide the tools to finding their true self. I hope they end their semester with a greater love for learning and an interesting in improving their knowledge of self.
