Bio/Teaching Philosophy
I am starting my 7th year as an adjunct instructor with NVC and have also taught at SAC, SPC and UIW. I am licensed as a Child-Care Administrator, which allows me to be in an administrative position in a youth-serving organization and also to be accountable and responsible regarding the care and treatment of children and youth who are in alternative foster care settings. I am the Residential Program Supervisor with St. Peter-St. Joseph Children’s Home which is licensed by the state of Texas as a Basic Care Residential Group Home and Emergency Shelter for at-risk youth. I have been in the field of child welfare and children’s services for 16 years. I sit on the Board of Directors of the Texas Mental Health Association in Texas and am a member of their public policy committee and their ad-hoc personnel policy task force. I am also an advisory board member for the Texas Parents as Teachers Parent Training Program. I am a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals National and San Antonio Chapters.  I have been married for 22 years and have three children (21, 19, and 7).  Hobbies include jogging/running, reading, enjoying fine wine and listening to modern and contemporary jazz music.
