The Advocacy Center offers several services for students enrolled in developmental English, Reading, or English 1301.
Our tutors are knowledgeable and well-trained to meet your needs. Though we do not edit papers, we can teach you the techniques needed to edit your own work.
All of our services are FREE and you can make an appointment to see a tutor or walk-in anytime.
The center is in Juniper Hall, Room 308 (JH-308, Click for Map)
The center is open Monday-Thursday 9:00am-9:00pm and Fridays 9:00am-2:00pm
Students who:

- Need in-depth instruction on the writing process, grammar, mechanics, or paper organization
- Got a low grade on a paper or quiz and want to learn how to do better
- Need a quiet place to study but also want access to a tutor
- Need to make up a quiz or test
- Are thinking about dropping a class
- Need support of any kind to be successful in English or Reading classes
If this sounds like you then come to the Advocacy Center in Juniper Hall, Room 308 and an advocate or tutor can help you!
If you need assistance, but do not have time to sit down with a Tutor or Advocate, then go to our Online Resources Web page to gain access to handouts and writing tips on several topics that may be just the answer you are looking for.
If you are thinking about dropping a class, for any reason, come see the English and Reading Advocate for drop counseling. During one of these sessions, the advocate can determine if dropping the course is the best solution for you. Even if you think there may be no way to avoid dropping, the advocate may know of a way for you to still remain in the course, catch up with missed material, transfer to a different class, or provide you with an opportunity to finish the class successfully without having to retake it later.
