The mission of the Northwest Vista College Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program is to offer students multiple opportunities to engage in educational writing assignments across all disciplines and provide them the feedback they need to improve their writing skills. In addition, our college is committed to the following objectives:

• Producing graduates who can write effectively for many audiences and purposes
• Providing faculty with tools to implement WAC assignments in the classroom
• Promoting the teaching of writing as a tool for critical thinking
• Supporting the ideas of writing in relation to other media (film, music, dance, visual arts) and recognizing the common principles of composition among them

A hallmark of the theory behind WAC at Northwest Vista College is writing to learn and acknowledging that the process of writing helps students focus upon a subject and organize their ideas in relation to it.
