NVC Scholarships:

Network Power Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria: Network Power/Texas is offering $500 scholarships for women. Founded in 1980, Network Power is a nonprofit support group for women whose purpose is to promote equity and self-sufficiency for women through educational programs, activities and services. To qualify, you must be a woman enrolled at one of the Alamo Colleges and have a 2.5 grade point average. Scholarship deadline is Dec. 1. AC CMI (Conceptual Mindworks) Scholarship

NVC Bookstore Scholarship
Deadline: August 21, 2009
Scholarship Criteria: There are scholarships available for "books only" at the NVC bookstore. The book scholarship (vouchers) may be used for the fall, spring and/or summer semesters for the 2009-2010 academic year and are non-renewable. The applicant must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in file with Student Financial Service and be eligible for financial aid. Applicant must be enrolled at NVC for a minimum of 6 credit hours. The application must meet satisfactory academic progress. Priority will be given to students with highest financial need that have received little or no financial aid funding, including student loans. Applicant must return completed application to Student Financial Services, MZH Room 105. Application available at link below

Alamo Colleges Kendra Ann Ward Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria: For students majoring in Music at any of the Alamo Colleges. Minimum 2.75 GPA; Full Time students only; Pell Grant eligibility not required; must demonstrate community volunteerism.
Scholarship Amount: $750 per semester for up to 6 consecutive semesters (3 academic years) while enrolled at an Alamo Community College

San Antonio McDonald's Owners' Employee Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria: Established by participating McDonald's Restaurant franchise owners in San Antonio for employees of their respective restaurants. Applications available and to be submitted to, the participating McDonald's Restaurant manager. Open to any major. Must be a current employee at any of the McDonald's Restaurants owned and operated by the McDonald's Restaurant franchise owners who established this scholarship (Acosta, Inc; Rich-De, Inc.; Hal John of San Antonio, Inc.; Didak, Inc; Jesse Guajardo, dba McDonald's; Stagg Restaurants Partnership; B & D Management Company, Inc.; R & J Rios, Inc.; PiciCo.; C - CKS, Inc dba McDonald's; and MUNCH, Inc. dba McDonald's); Minimum GPA of 2.0; full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester) or part-time (6 to 11 credit hours per semester); Financial need not required.

Sociedad Peruanan de San Antonio Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria: Open to all majors. Alamo Colleges Scholarship application required. Students must demonstrate they will be graduating or have already graduated with a satisfactory cumulative high school grade (2.0 to 4.0 scale); student may be newly enrolling or continuing college students; student may be full or part-time; student must maintain and possess the minimum of 2.0 GPA; student must have been born in Peru or be of the first generation Pervuvian descent to attend college (appropriate student visa or other documentation if U.S. citizen, must be submitted with scholarship application.

Kelly Management Association Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria: Open to all majors. Alamo Colleges Scholarship application required. Students must be graduating or have graduated with a GPA of 2.0 or better; must demonstrate financial need; satisfactorily passed the TAKS; students may be full or part-time; may attend any of the Alamo Colleges; Preference will be given to prospective scholarship recipients first who are former employees of Kelly Air Force Base and second, who are employees of the military installations in the Greater San Antonio Area (applicant will need to show proof of preferential).

Leonard and Shirley Sterling Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria: Established by Mrs. Shirley Sterling, in loving memory of her late husband, Leonard, and her life with him. Open to Business majors. Application to the Alamo Colleges Office of Student Financial Services required. Minimum GPA of 3.5; Demonstrate active community service; Financial need not required; Must be a U.S. citizen and resident; Full time (enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester) or Part time (enrolled in 6 to 11 credit hours per semester).
Scholarship Amount: $250 to $750 for full-time students for Fall semester, depending upon clarity of stated goals; renewal $250 to $750 for full- time students for Spring semester if criteria continues to be met; $250 for part-time students.

Gambrinus Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria: Open to all majors. Student must have already graduated with a B or C grade average; must be enrolled full time (at least 12 hours) at any Alamo College and must demonstrate a commitment to pursue a four-year bachelor degree by either participating in the AC 2 + 2 Transfer Program or the AC Joint Admission Program; students must demonstrate financial need.
Please contact NVC Student Financial Services Office to obtain a Gambrinus Scholarship Signature Sheet and a standard AC Scholarship Application, also available online.
Signature Sheet and application must be completed and submitted along with ALL supporting documentation* to the Office of Student Financial Services.

James Siegel Scholarship

Ashley Lynn Degerstrom Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria: Established in loving memory of Ashley Lynn Degerstrom, a student at Northwest Vista College, by her parents and many friends who always knew her as a kind, compassionate soul. Alamo Colleges application and application to the NVC Office of Student Financial Services required. Open to Northwest Vista College students who have completed one full year of college credit toward a teaching degree, earned a minimum GPA of 3.0, enrolled as a full-time student, participating in either a 2+2 Transfer Program or a Joint Admission Program in pursuit of a baccalaureate degree, demonstrate financial need, and demonstrate a commitment to community volunteerism and engagement. In addition, scholarship recipient must receive annual academic and career counseling.
Scholarship Amount: $750 for Fall Semester; renewable $750 for Spring Semester if criteria coninues to be met.

Sam Riklin Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria: Open to Occupational Therapy majors. Alamo Colleges Scholarship application is required with "ACORN Scholarship" indicated on application. Students must be graduating or have graduated high school with at least a 2.0 GPA; in the upper two-thirds of graduating class; satisfactorily passed the TAKS; must be enrolling as a full-time student (12 hours or more) Deadline: One month before high school graduation or four months before intended semester, if already in college.

21st Century Scholarship for Young Men

Scholarship Criteria: Northwest Vista College is offering $1,000 scholarships to male students between the ages of 18 to 20. This scholarship is for new and currently registered students. A minimum of 12 credit hours at NVC, high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher or college grade point average of 2.0 or higher is required. Recipients must attend an orientation and participate in a mentorship program.

Assistantship in Fine and Performing Arts

Scholarship Criteria: The Assistantship in Fine & Performing Arts provides support for arts programs at NVC, including the Vis-à-vis Visiting Artist Series, which brings guest artists to NVC for performances, lectures, and residencies. This position is ideal for students focusing on music, dance, theatre, art, multimedia and/or marketing. This is a work-study program, based on financial aid eligibility. Students are required to have submitted a completed FAFSA application.
