This course is designed for students who are self-motivated, do not need much direction from their instructors, and who have some familiarity with computers and the Internet.  Access to a computer on a regular basis is a must.  Age makes no difference; motivation and self-discipline do.  The course requires a considerable amount of reading and outside research in web based sources.  If you feel you have what it takes, this course is for you. This course will be interesting and rewarding!

Please check the links below to determine if a WEB class is right for your, PC requirements, and College Policies & Procedures.

Announcments You will find all of the announcements about due dates for quizzes, exams and any other information you need in order to complete the course. I suggest you check the announcement page on a daily basis to keep current in the course.

FAQ's: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

(After reading these FAQ's over, many of your initial questions should be answered. Students with individual questions or comments should direct them to me at: kglasspac@hotmail.com

  1. Do I have to have an E-mail Address?

  2. Yes.  Our experience at Palo Alto College strongly suggests that students who keep in regular contact with the instructor do better than students who do not.  E-mail is crucial for asking questions and getting additional instructions. I check my email Monday through Thursday. I also will respond to your email messages more rapidly than if you leave a phone message.  And most importantly- it's a requirement!
  3. How do I get an e-mail account?

  4. For students who don't have an account with an Internet provider, my advice is sign up for an email account through the ACCD's Multiversity For Cyber Learning or call another Internet provider - now!  If this is a stumbling block for you because of expense, you may need a traditional course instead.
  5. Am I required to e-mail the instructor?

  6. Absolutely. You must e-mail me initially to get your USERID, Password & Course registration password if you did not attend the orientation. Inaddition, you will want to email me if you are having any difficulty with the course or if you have any other course related questions.
  7. Do we ever have to come to campus for anything?

  8. Yes. I will conduct orientation sessions to get you started; For those of you who can't make these, recommend you access the on-line orientation. Past experience has shown that those students, who attend an orientation session tend to do better in the class.
  9. Do we have to be "on-line" with the instructor at any given time?

  10. No. I will communicate with students in "class" by using announcements and email.  You will get information and updates that way.  We will not conduct live "chat" because different students will be working on class material at different times.  I will always give individual instruction via announcements or e-mail.
  11. Where is the grading scale, book requirements and other important information listed?

  12. In the course syllabus. You should familiarize yourself with this page.
  13. Is there "homework"?

  14. Reading assignments, yes. Quizzes, yes. Typed assignments, yes.
Check the Class Calendar for readings, quizzes, and other assignments.
  15. Where and when do we take quizzes?

  16. You will take all of you quizzes online. All quizzes have been posted on the Class Calendar. The weekly quiz must be submitted by 11:55pm on Sunday. NO LATE QUIZZES ACCEPTED. Any missed quizzes will count as one of your drops.
  17. How will we get our grades for quizzes?

  18. All of the quiz grades will be posted automatically when you enter the quiz for grading.
  19. What happens if I miss a quiz that is due on Sunday?

  20. You missed it.  I will not take late quizzes. If you miss a quiz, no make-ups will be given. Missed quizzes will count as part of your drops.
  21. Where do we get the assignments?
  22. For each week on the Class Calender there are weekly reading assignments and quizzes. Quizzes must be submitted by Friday? or they will not be counted.
  23. When will the final exam be posted?

  24. A final exam will not be required for the course .
  25. Is it a hard class?

  26. That depends. Are you a self starter and a good disciplined reader? Can you manage your time effectively? If you answered yes to each of the above questions, then the course may be challenging but not difficult.
  27. Can I drop the class?

  28. Yes. See the admissions department on campus.  They will handle that for you.  If you fail to drop the class and fail to complete it, you will, regrettably, receive an "F".
  29. What can I do in case of a technology failure?

  30. First, contact Support Central for expert assistance.  Also, contact your instructor as soon as possible.

If you have further questions, please e-mail me!
