Extended Test Time
Steps to Follow
Here are the basic steps to follow
if a student with a disability is approved to use "Extended
Test Time".
Step One:
The student with this accommodation reminds the Instructor that
he/she is approved to use the Extended Test Time.
The Instructor can confirm this be referring to the Confidential
Letter given to him/her by the student at the beginning of the
semester.
Step Two:
The student will go to Disability Support Services to get:
- Extended
Test Time Form

- Disability Support Services Test Deadline Notification Form
- Disability Support Services Instructor's Test Directions
- Student fill out the BLUE sections of the Extended Test Time
Form
Step Three:
The student takes all the forms to the Instructor.
The instructor will be asked to fill out the RED sections of "The
Extended Test Time Form" . This form ensures
the exam is administered properly regarding:
- Deadline for taking the test.
- Are notes allowed?
- Is a calculator allowed?
- Is a "formula sheet" allowed?
- Is scratch paper allowed?
- Open book exam?
- Closed book exam?
- Is a computer needed to take the exam?
Step Four:
The instructor will bring, fax, or email the
exam & "Instructor's
Test Directions" form to Disability Support Services. If someone other
than the instructor brings the exam, please place it in a sealed
envelope.
Step Five:
The student should bring the completed "Test Deadline Notification
Form" to Disability Support Services and schedule a test site and
time.
Step Six:
When the exam is completed, it will be picked up or sent to the
Instructor by Disability Support Services.
