Reader/Scribe Services

  • Readers read for students who are visually impaired or students with certain Learning Disabilities. They are the "eyes" for the student.
  • Scribes write for students with certain disabilities who have difficulty with writing.
    They are the "hands" for the student.
  • Reader/Scribes do follow an "Expectation of Conduct" and are required to stay in their role as a Reader/Scribes.

Reader/Scribes are not tutors and don't offer opinions or advice on:

  • class assignments
  • tests or quizzes
  • classroom activities/discussions

For example, Reader/Scribes may work in the following situations:

  • In the classroom
  • During Exams
  • In the Library (LRC)
  • Reading handouts onto cassette tape
  • Describing Videos
