Veterinary Technology Admission Requirements
All Students requesting admission to the Veterinary Technology Program should follow this protocol:
- Apply to Palo Alto College for admission and declare “veterinary technology” as your major.
- Send official copies of transcripts for all colleges attended to Palo Alto College Admissions and Records.
- Send the following to the Veterinary Technology office:
- Completed application for Veterinary Technology Program
- Transcripts (copies or unofficial documents are fine)
- Proof of successful completion of all parts of THEA, TASP, or similar Assessment Test OR eligibility to take college courses
- Proof of successful completion of prerequisite courses (with a GPA of 2.0)
- If you are hoping to transfer credit, please supply a copy of all course work completed at other institutions, along with a copy of course descriptions.
- 3 letters of recommendation (one from Veterinarian or RVT from 80 hour work clinic) & 2 from any other non-immediate family sources (family friend, professor, etc.)
- Proof of at least 80 or more hours working or volunteering at a vet clinic
- Proof of physical exam, tetanus prophylaxis, & Pre-exposure Rabies Prophylaxis
- Failure to submit a complete packet could result in the disqualification of your application.
- Allow 2-4 weeks for your application & transcript to be processed. Then call the Veterinary Technology office to schedule a tour of the facility.
- If you have taken prerequisite courses from other institutions, a photocopy of catalog descriptions of those courses needs to be submitted. Courses presented for transfer consideration should be clearly marked on the photocopy.
- Applications to the program may be submitted any time of the year. The application must be completed and mailed to the veterinary technology office by June 1st of the same year you wish to begin taking classes. All applications will be reviewed and each potential student will be notified as to their program admission status. For example, a student may be admitted, provisionally admitted, or granted alternate status.
- Any student submitting an application after June 1st may still be accepted into the program if spaces become available. If spaces are available in the upcoming class, they will be filled from the later applications.
