SETI@home --
SETI@home is a scientific experiment that will harness the power of
hundreds of thousands of Internet-connected computers in the Search for
Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI). You can participate by running
a program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data. There's a
small but captivating possibility that your computer will detect the
faint murmur of a civilization beyond Earth. SETI@home is scheduled to
start in April 1999. The SETI@home program is a special kind of screensaver.
Like other screensavers it starts up when you leave your computer
unattended, and it shuts down as soon as you return to work. What it does
in the interim is unique. While you are getting coffee, or having lunch
or sleeping, your computer will be helping the Search for
Extraterrestrial Intelligence by analyzing data specially captured by the
world's largest radio telescope. You will be able to download the
SETI@home program for free.

Anticryptography "Anticryptography is based on the idea of making a message that decodes itself. The idea is closely linked with the search for extraterrestrial intelligence and is an attempt to answer the challenge of communicating with another, perhaps vastly different, intelligence"
Arctic Asteroid! residents of Western Canada were surprised when a fireball as bright as the Sun streaked across the morning sky. Exploding with an estimated yield of 5-10 thousand tons of TNT, the brilliant meteor attracted the attention of defense satellites, seismic monitoring stations, and just about anyone who happened to be standing outdoors within 700-800 km of the dazzling meteor's path

On August 8, 2001, NASA's Discovery mission Genesis launched its spacecraft a million miles sunward to collect pieces of the sun, called solar wind, that may contain these answers. At L1, it unfolded its collectors and began a two-year "sunbath." Upon its return to Earth in 2004, scientists will study the solar wind samples for years to come"
