The Purpose of the Evaluation, Why and For Whom:

1. Improve Reference services.
2. Defend the program and its funding.
3. Respond to accrediting agencies.
4. Provide data and information for decision-making.

Evaluation will address administrators, the teaching faculty, students, librarians, other libraries, SACS, and THECB.

Research Design To Be Used:

a. Percent of questions answered completely and correctly.
a. "...a simulation procedure in which the evaluator tests the library through a set of questions for which answers are already known... In this case, the reference question may be put to the library by volunteers posing as real users. The library is evaluated in terms of the number of questions answered completely and correctly" (Lancaster, 9).
