Internet Acceptable Use Guidelines

The 3 overriding guidelines for students and other users of the Internet Access workstations in the Learning Resources Center are:

1. The PRIMARY function of the Information Concourse and all public access workstations in the Ozuna Learning Resources Center is LIBRARY RESEARCH directly related to classroom assignments originating from the faculty at Palo Alto College. Priority will always be given to currently enrolled students at Palo Alto College.

2. Every Internet Access user is entitled to the same privacy, and freedom from censorship, afforded him/her as when reading library print materials.

3. Internet Access must not be used for any activity which is defined by federal or state statute as illegal or which would inhibit, restrict or otherwise prevent another LRC user from successfully completing his/her research or assignment.

These general guidelines are in place to promote the mission, role, and function of the LRC as it relates to student success at Palo Alto College. Separate guidelines exist for computer use and Internet Access in the CHILDREN'S LIBRARY.

(Originally formulated for in-house implementation, 1998.)
