Internet Quiz5. True or False? A Subject Directory or Index is menu-driven.
AnswerTRUE.Go to YAHOO. Scroll down the page a bit and you will find the menu of subjects. This menu and the links were created by an actual human being, not a machine. They are, as a consequence, much higher quality in the results they give you than a keyword search engine. Now go to our library homepage. Click on the Web Subject INDEX on the left. This is an alphabetical index of the Web created for the students and faculty of Palo Alto College. Notice that the alphabet at the top will jump you to that part of the menu. Notice that important holidays are mentioned at the top of the page. Notice the "newest links added" link in the box at the top. These are new links that might be of interest to you. Now scroll down the menu and notice the subjects covered. They are all meant to be of use to you, or of interest. If the link is all capital letters, like the one to ABORTION, it means that there is an entire page of links. Notice that subjects offered in the college are covered here, like AVIATION, AMERICAN HISTORY, ART, AGRICULTURE. Try a few links and explore what they hold. Notice that there are also pages of links which might be useful to you in general, like ALTERNATIVE NEWS SOURCES, WEATHER, and VOTER INFORMATION. |
