Segovia

The first historical reference to the town of Segovia dates back to 192 BC when its Celtiberian inhabitants were defeated by the Romans. Isabel I was crowned here in 1474 during the Spanish Reconquest. As a result of the subsequent 2,000 years of existence and growth, Segovia has become one of the most monumental and picturesque towns in Spain. The UNESCO has declared it a Heritage of Mankind Site. Segovia is renouned for the ship-like appearance it projects, the Alcazar standing at its bow, the cathedral tower being its helmast, and the aqueduct its helm.. The town has an inimitable atmosphere where time has come to halt in the 16th century.

La Iglesia de la Vera Cruz /Church of the True Cross"
This church is located on the northern outskirts of Segovia. It is Romanesque in style and dates back to 1208. Its structure is rather curious because it is dodecagonal on the outside and circular in its interior. Access to the church is gained by means of 4 doorways, one at each cardinal point.
