RANKIN, JEANNETTE --page of links... "The first woman to serve in Congress entered politics through her participation in the campaign for woman suffrage and while in office worked to secure a constitutional amendment guaranteeing women the right to vote. Jeannette Rankin served two terms, separated by more than twenty years, in the House of Representatives during a lengthy career devoted more to contemporary reform movements than to institutional politics.
