Jessica Howard
Biographical Information

Dr. Jessica Howard is the Vice President of Academic Affairs at San Antonio College. She holds a Ph.D. in Performance Studies from New York University and, from Rice University, a Master of Music, a Bachelor of Music, and a Bachelor of Arts in English. A faculty member at two colleges prior to coming to SAC, she was named Chair of the Music and Humanities Department at SAC in 2002 and reached the level of tenured Associate Professor before joining college administration. During that time she acted as Vice-Chair and incoming Chair of the SAC Faculty Senate. Prior to joining SAC, she was Director of Fine Arts at Saint Mary’s Hall.
A member of Leadership San Antonio XXXIV, Dr. Howard belongs to the American Association of Women in Community Colleges and the Texas Community College Teachers Association. She sits on the board of Family Service Association and the advisory board for the San Antonio International Piano Competition, and is former Vice President for Audience Development for the San Antonio Symphony League. Her honors include being the 2006 SAC Nominee for Minnie Stevens Piper Professor, the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Excellence Award in Teaching 2007, and the Community College Humanities Association Distinguished Service Award in 2007.
Dr. Howard performs on piano, French horn and voice on occasion, and is proud to be an alumnus of San Antonio’s Clark High School. Her greatest professional joy and commitment is to encourage and facilitate student academic success at San Antonio College.
