ALGEBRA:
Created by Elizabeth Stapel of Western International University, Purple Math covers all ranges of Algebra from preliminary mathematical topics to advanced algebraic word problems. This cool website offers a plethora of links and hints to students who are in need of additional help in Algebra. It introduces students to various easy to follow lessons and tutoring sites as well as online quizzes and worksheets. The site also has notes and guidelines are easy to find and follow and a study skills self-survey that evaluates the students study habits. Purple Math is also available on CD-Rom for use on the student’s personal computer.
This valuable website allows the student to play interactive games that keep them on their toes while building their mathematical skills. Students are able to print out notes beginning from remedial math straight through to college level on an easy to comprehend word format. Greenebox.com also gives students the key tools to break down their note-taking skills into easy pre-formatted steps. There are tutorial CD’s that are available threw this site and the SAC Bookstore that are designed to help students from middle school through college levels to strengthen their math skills. This program was developed by Lynda Greene, Assistant Professor of the Department of Math and Computer Science at our very own San Antonio College.
http://www.conceptsapplications.com/series_5/index.html
This site offers students practice exercises to sharpen
their mathematical skills in elementary, intermediate, and combined
algebras. Each section specific exercise sets, which can be downloaded
and printed on Acrobat reader, include corresponding answer keys for
each practice worksheet. These series of exercises help in providing
students with the tools necessary to learn and to better understand
mathematical problems. The students will also discover links to other
sites, which expand each chapter opener application and provide additional
real world connections. These series of exercises were developed by
Addison Wesley Longman and accompany Bittinger/Ellenbogen Elementary
Algebra, Concepts and Applications, 5th Ed.

Houghton Mifflin Publishing offers students several online ACE practice tests to students along with useful study tips as well as student solutions guides and graphing calculator programs. The practice tests are available for all levels of algebra, from elementary up to pre-calculus. These websites allow students to take online practice multiple-choice tests with immediate grade results. After each test is graded, the student is able to check their mistakes, print their score, and e-mail results to their instructor. Students also have access to an online resource center with SMARTHINKING and computer tutor. The sites are based on text by Ron Larson and Robert P. Hostetler of Pennsylvania State University and Behrend College.
ACCUPLACER:

Dr. Patrick J. Eggleton of Mathematics Education at Huntington College provides students with eight practice tests to help them prepare and become familiar with the Accuplacer placement tests for entering freshman level college mathematics courses. Each practice test is taken online and is instantly graded after each answer is entered. Each test has twelve questions or more and references the 1999 edition (8th) of M. L. Bittinger's Introductory Algebra published by Addison-Wesley-Longman. This website offers student additional links to assist them in developing their mathematical skills such as the test prep review web site which is a recommended site for students to sharpen their testing skills.

This website is a valuable tool to all new and seasoned students that require tools to sharpen their test taking skills. Test Prep Review offers the student a wide variety of online practice tests including an Accuplacer Online Course. This course provides over twenty self-assessment modules designed to help prepare the student with writing, reading, and arithmetic portions of the test. Each test is broken down into easy to comprehend categories (modules) to better target the student’s weakest area. When the student has completed each module the test is evaluated and the student may review and print their scores. This site also offers additional useful information regarding the test taking process and links to a self-improvement directory.

Montgomery College Assessment Center designed their web site to give students a general idea of the types of questions that are found on the Accuplacer Test, which provides placement and advising information for students when entering college. Students are provided with a printer friendly sample of an Accuplacer practice test and answer key. It is broken down into five sections that cover reading comprehension, sentence skills, arithmetic, algebra, and college level math. This allows the student to become familiar with computerized testing. The website also provides sample from the Rockville Math Department in Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and college level mathematics which are also printable along with online answer key.
THEA:

If you want to take a practice test for the math part of the THEA test, you have come to the right place. Hosted by West Texas A&M University, the THEA practice test is a printable test that is designed for the student to better understand the topics that are covered in the THEA test (TASP). This purpose is for the student to become more familiar to the way the questions are worded, length of test, and to practice strategizing. This practice test contains forty-eight questions and is similar to the THEA. There is also a printable answer key available. There are additional links to websites provided to students for information or fun as they explore the study session.
