Welcome to the San Antonio College's Accounting Technology Program Web page. If you are interested in preparing for and finding a good job in accounting, you will want to carefully consider either our certificate or associate degree programs.
If you have experience or previous education in accounting, you can have a program designed especially for you. This program will provide you with exactly what you need to enhance your existing accounting skills and education in order to obtain a job in accounting or to qualify for a higher level position.
If you are considering a career in accounting, this is the place to start. You can have a program designed for you that requires no prior experience or education in accounting.
The successful student will develop competency in bookkeeping (sole proprietorship, partnership, and corporation), handling the major accounting functions in the accounting department of a large firm and performing the duties of an accounting department of a large firm and performing the duties of an accounting technician/junior accountant. Skills developed include performing accounting functions manually and on the computer and working with accounting, spreadsheet, and database software.
The Accounting Technician certificate reflects the assessed needs of the community for careers in Accounting Technician. The curriculum prepares students for initial career opportunities, career development, and/or continuing the study of accounting to pursue a two-year degree, the Associate in Applied Science in Accounting Technology.
The Accounting Technology A.A.S. degree builds upon the certificates and provides students with essential knowledge in the Accounting field. The A.A.S. degree is an inverted degree which articulates with the Bachelor of Applied Science degree offered through a number of universities.
