I. Catalog Description: Integrated Software Applications II provides continued study of computer applications from business productivity software suites, instruction in embedding data and linking and combining documents using work processing, spreadsheets, databases, and /or presentation media software.

II. Pre-requisites, co-requisites and other requirements: Completion of ITSC 1309 or equivalent. Ability to type by touch recommended. Ownership of or unlimited access to Microsoft Office 2007.

IV. Instruction will consist of:
A. Self-paced instructional method presented in textbook and accompanying instructor Learning Activity Packet.
B. One-on-one explanation and problem solving
C. Student independent practice
D. Demonstration

V. Course Content: ITSC 2321 is designed to prepare students for the contemporary business environment in which they are expected to complete a variety of projects using current computer hardware technology and application software. Emphasis is on a mastery of Microsoft Office suite application software for the purpose of adding value to realistic consultative and administrative tasks. Problem-based learning methods will be employed throughout the course.

Learning Outcome:
Performance Objectives/Method(s) of measurement for each objective:

A. Use Microsoft Word 2007 to create a document with a title page, table, chart, and watermark. Generate form letters, mailing labels, and directories. Create a professional newsletter. Method of Measurement: Successfully complete homework assignments and course exams with a minimum of 70% accuracy.

B. Use Microsoft Excel 2007 to create spreadsheets with financial functions, data tables, and amortization schedules. Create, sort, and query a table. Create templates and work with multiple worksheets and workbooks. Method of Measurement: Successfully complete homework assignments and course exams with a minimum of 70% accuracy.

C. Use Microsoft Access 2007 to create reports and forms. Create multi-table forms. Use macros, switchboards, pivot tables, and pivot charts. Method of Measurement: Successfully complete homework assignments and course exams with a minimum of 70% accuracy.

D. Use Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 to create a presentation with custom backgrounds and smart art diagrams. Work with information graphics. Method of Measurement: Successfully complete homework assignments and course exams with a minimum of 70% accuracy.

VII. Course requirements and grade computation.
A. College Requirements:
A written, comprehensive final examination, not to exceed two and one-half hours in length, shall be given at the end of each semester for each course at the regularly scheduled time. Any exceptions to these requirements must be approved by the appropriate dean. Other examinations are given at the discretion of the instructor.

A student who must be absent from a final examination should petition that instructor for permission to postpone the examination. A student absent without permission from a final examination is graded “F.” Postponed examinations result in a grade of “I.” The final exam must be taken within 120 calendar days from the end of the semester or the grade automatically becomes an “F.” (San Antonio College Bulletin, Faculty Handbook - January 1995)

B. Departmental Requirement:
Assignments 50% Includes software projects as listed on the assignment sheet.

Tests 25% Four comprehensive performance exams will be given.

Final Examination 25% Comprehensive performance exam will be given.

C. Instructor Requirements: Consistent attendance by staying on schedule-according to the applicable due date schedule is required. Students who do not turn in assignments for two consecutive weeks will be dropped from the course for lack of attendance. If a student is dropped from the class for excessive absences, a grade of “WN” will be recorded. Late work will be accepted but will be penalized 20 points for the first day late and 10 points for each day thereafter.

VIII. College Policies:

E. Academic Dishonesty: Students may be subject to disciplinary proceedings resulting
in an academic penalty or disciplinary penalty for academic dishonesty. Academic Dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, cheating on a test, plagiarism and collusion. For additional information refer to the “Student Code of Conduct” in the San Antonio College Bulletin.
F. Students are required to silence all electronic devices (e.g., pagers, cellular phones, etc.) when in classrooms, laboratories and the library. College Academic Council, 01/ 2000.
G. San Antonio College Attendance Policy: Regular and punctual attendance at all classes and laboratories, day and/or evening, is required. A student absent for any reason is responsible for all work missed. Both tardiness and early departure from class are forms of absenteeism. The instructor establishes the policy with regard to each.
Absences of each student are recorded without exception. The counting of absences begins on the first day of class. A student absent the equivalent of two weeks of instruction in a 16-week semester may be dropped by the instructor. If a student is dropped from a class for excessive absences, the instructor will record a grade of “W’ (withdraw). It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the withdrawals have been submitted.
