Ten-Key Skillbuilding focuses on developing ten-key touch system skill–including
both speed and accuracy.

The course grade is based on an accuracy rate of 98%.
Weighted Percentages for each exercise:
Exercises 1-22 = 50%
Exercise 23 = 25%
Exercise 24 = 25%
Grading Scale for overall average strokes per hour:
12,000 = A
10,000 = B
8,000 = C
6,000 = D
VI. COURSE CONTENT
POFT 1174 is a beginning level course with its primary
objective being to learn the numeric keypad by touch (without looking
at the keys), and to help to develop the speed and accuracy necessary
to be useful in the world of employment.
VII. COMPETENCIES
At the completion of POFT 1174, the student will be able
to:
1. Reach the industry standards for data entry by keying 12,000+ strokes
per hour with 98% accuracy for an A grade.
2. Reach the data entry skill by keying 10,000 strokes per hour with
98% accuracy for a B grade.
3. Reach the data entry skill by keying 8,000 strokes per hour with
98% accuracy for a C grade.
VIII. TESTING
This course has no exams.
Students repeat timings until mastery is learned. If timings meet the
accuracy standard set, scores are automatically recorded on the Progress
Report and the final grade is automatically calculated.
Instructor Requirements
Staying on schedule-according to the applicable due date
schedule is required. Students who do not turn in assignments for two
consecutive weeks will be dropped from the course for lack of attendance.
If a student is dropped from the class for excessive absences, a grade
of “WN” will be recorded.
This course is a skillbuilding course and consistent practice
and timely completion of assignments is required. Late work will be
penalized. It is the student’s responsibility to follow the due
date schedule. Failure to complete course work will result in your grade
being lower than the grade recorded on your final grade report.
Academic Dishonesty Policy
Students may be subject to disciplinary proceedings resulting
in an academic penalty or disciplinary penalty for academic dishonesty.
Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, cheating on a test,
plagiarism and collusion. For additional information refer to the “Student
