Texas Success |
The Texas Success Initiative is a program enacted by the Texas Legislature designed to ensure that all students attending college have attained the academic skills in reading, writing and mathematics that indicate the student's readiness to perform enroll in freshman-level academic course work. Therefore, each entering undergraduate student at San Antonio College is required to be assessed prior to enrollment. Determination of when a student is ready to perform freshman-level academic coursework is on an individual basis according to the needs of the student. Assessment is done by an assessment instrument, ACCUPLACER, ASSET, THEA (formerly TASP test), to determine course placement in reading, writing and mathematics. Although the following students are exempt from state mandatory assessment, course placement assessment is required. The following students shall be exempt from the requirements of this title:

Basic Skills Enrichment Programs |
Students may participate in non-course-based remediation (NCBR) through the Basic Skills Enrichment Programs (MLC 712). The courses are held according to the regular class schedule and are non-graded. There are no college credit hours attached to the courses; therefore, they will not count toward number of hours needed for financial aid. |
WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM NCBR CLASSES? |
