Amy Kalmus,Director of Professional Development: Amy is responsible for all aspects of the Professional Development Department at Sorenson Communications including the VI-P Mentorship program, provision of CEU workshops, and interpreter training initiatives. Prior to her work at Sorenson, Amy worked as a freelance interpreter and as an instructor at Interpreter Training Programs in Missouri and Texas for more than 15 years. She has served on the Texas BEI board and is a member of the panel of experts for the new BEI certification test in Texas. Amy has served on several committees for RID and currently serves as the RID CMP sponsor for Sorenson Communications. Amy holds certifications in Kansas, Missouri, Texas BEI Master and Court Interpreter Certification, is legally qualified to work in the state of Colorado, and has a CI/CT from RID. In addition to interpreter certifications, Amy holds degrees in Journalism and History from the University of Kansas and an A.A.S. degree in Interpreting from Johnson County Community College in Kansas City.
