David Perea - Advisory Board Member

David was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. After graduating from Ysleta High School and briefly attending college at El Paso Community College, David transferred to San Antonio College in February of 2002, where he majored in Psychology. During his coursework at San Antonio College, in order to fulfill the required foreign language credit, he enrolled in American Sign Language 1 and successfully passed. It was at this point that an interest in American Sign Language was sparked and gradually as more classes were taken what started out as a slight interest in learning another language snowballed into the desire to become an Interpreter. In May of 2005, David graduated with an Associates of Arts in Psychology and an Associates of Arts in American Sign Language. Immediately after, he returned to work on his Associates of Applied Science in ASL/IT. In 2006 David was selected to be on the Advisory Board for the ASL/ITP department at San Antonio College. He was also selected in 2007 to represent San Antonio College in San Francisco as Support Staff to the 2007 Biennial Conference for the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. David is currently employed at Sorenson Communications as an interpreter for Spanish services and is also a participant in the Advanced Interpreter Mentoring Program(AIM) at San Antonio College.
