Jesus Ivan Guajardo - Advisory Board Member

Jesus Ivan Guajardo was born Deaf in Monterrey, Mexico. The fundamental foundation for his basic scholastic learning began by attending the Agrupación Mexicana de Sordomudos A.C., Preparatoria para sordos (Mexican Preparatory School for the Deaf, Deaf/Mute Division), in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico.

Jesus moved to the valley in McAllen, Texas after Preparatory School and enrolled at Memorial High School in 1996. He studied academics, participated in intramural sports and graduated in 2000. He then matriculated at South Texas College and graduated in 2004 earning an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design Technology specializing in Architectural Drafting. During this time, Jesus also took an active role in working with Rio Grande Valley for the Deaf City , an area Deaf Community organization.

Enrolled in The College of Architecture at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Jesus will soon complete his 4-year pre-professional degree requirements and earn his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Architecture. Currently employed as a lab assistant in the Department of American Sign Language/Interpreter Training language lab, he appreciates the support and knowledge he has received from the lab directors and is proud being Deaf and a hard worker.
