Jennifer Howell - Advisory Board Member


Jennifer Berg Howell brings 32 years of solid and varied certified interpreting experience to the Board. She taught ASL at Gallaudet College from 1978-1983, graduated from the University of Maryland in 1980, helped pioneer and implement the testing of ASL teachers in Texas public high schools while working at TEA with the establishment of the TASC-ASL. Her forte includes interpreting in educational and mental health settings. She has also co-produced a series of educational programs for educational interpreters “Deaf and Hard of Hearing Issues” while she was employed at the Texas Education Agency for nine years. Jennifer worked steadily to enhance the training opportunities for educational interpreters, K-12. Since 2005, Ms. Howell has been working at Sorenson Video Relay Services as a VRI. She is also serving as a mentor there.

Jennifer is raising a precocious 7 year old daughter, Trina, who is the absolute joy of her life.

Jennifer enjoys art, reading, antiquing, snow skiing, music, travel, horseback riding, and all the joy that life has to offer.
