David Solis, born deaf, grew up in Lubbock, Texas. He has two deaf brothers and a deaf sister. He is married to Paula Carol Rogers, who is Deaf as well. They have one daughter, Amaris, who is hearing.

David graduated from the Regional Day School Program at Lubbock High School in Lubbock (1978). He then attended Gallaudet University in Washington , D.C. and transferred to Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, Texas, where he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies in 1987. While there, he was the President of Ephphatha (a deaf organization), and during the summers did missionary work with several deaf churches in Lafayette, Louisiana and Ft Worth, Texas, Memphis, Tennessee and Sherman, Texas. He was also an interim Pastor at San Antonio Deaf Baptist Church of Trinity Baptist Church for two years.

Before joining us, David worked at Northside Independent School District for 8 years. He worked there as instructor aide, and Intermediary Interpreter and taught courses in Beginning Sign Language for Continuing Adult Education. He now works as a Lab Technician in the Department of American Sign Language and Interpreter Training at San Antonio College.
