“Teach like your hair’s on fire!!” Laura brings a “wow” factor, varied activities and enthusiasm to her teaching. After working in the public school system teaching deaf/ hard of hearing students primarily at the secondary level for 30 years, she retired in May of 2009. While in the public school system, Laura was an Interpreter Coordinator, English/Reading teacher and itinerant teacher. Laura has received the Superintendent’s Award twice and was honored in 2008 by the Texas Association of the Deaf as “Teacher of the Year”.
Laura has worked off and on at SAC for many years. She has taught ASL 1, Communication Theory and Fingerspelling courses. She is excited to be back with the department and among such inspiring and qualified staff.
Laura is married and has three grown children. Her empty nest is now filled with four dogs, which she dearly loves.
