Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services
At SAC, Deaf students have a unique academic support environment. Services are offered under the Department of American Sign Language and Interpreter Training where students are accepted as a linguistic and cultural minority. There are Deaf faculty members, Deaf staff members, a counselor for the Deaf students who is a certified interpreter, and over 600 hearing students learning sign language.
Deaf and Hard of Hearing students wishing to enroll at San Antonio College will first need to complete the online application.
In accordance to new district policies and Section 504 of the Educational Code, effective Fall 2005, ALL students will be required to submit the following documents to Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, to remain on file, in order to receive an approved tuition waiver for San Antonio College.

Major and Degree Plan (received from Academic Department)
Certificate of Deafness for Tuition Waiver (Student is responsible for applying through and obtaining a signed certificate with the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services, Division of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services based in Austin, Texas.
High School and / or previous College Transcripts Student will submit his / her high school and /or college transcripts to both Admissions and Records and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services as a requisite to enrollment.
Letter of Recommendation Student will be required to obtain a letter of recommendation from his / her high school counselor or principal, employer, or some other responsible adult who is willing to serve as a reference and letter will remain on file with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services.
After meeting with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services counselor and submitting all necessary documents, the advisor or counselor will approve the Certificate of Deafness, which can then be presented to the bursars office for tuition waiver.
