Tutoring

If you find that you are having problems in a class – DO NOT WAIT!! Talk with the instructor and let him / her know you are having problems. In addition, tell the counselor so that tutoring options can be explored. Finding and making arrangements for tutoring is YOUR responsibility! If you schedule time with a tutor and need an interpreter, fill out the interpreter request form at least 3 days in advance and one will be provided.

SLAC Lab
Tutoring is available in the Student Learning Assistance Center on the 7th floor of the Moody Learning Center. You need to have a SAC student ID, a paid tuition bill, and a diskette. If you set up a time to join a Tutoring group, you will need to fill out an Interpreter Request Form (found outside Jo Hilton’s office – NTC 004). Please give 3 days notice for requesting an interpreter.

Department Tutoring
The different departments will also offer tutoring with various classes. If you are struggling in a particular class, please talk with the instructor about tutoring times that the department offers. You will need to request an interpreter for these tutoring sessions as well.

Tutoring with the ASL department
While we cannot guarantee that tutoring will be available within the department, there will be occasion where a tutor may be available to work with you one on one in the ASL Lab. Please inform the Interpreting Services Manager that you need tutoring services and if someone is available, you will be given that information. Again, it is YOUR responsibility to schedule tutoring time once a tutor is found.
