Melody
graduated from Southern Methodist University with
a M.A. in Deaf Education 1975. She taught Deaf
children in self-contained classrooms in Dallas,Texas;
Atlanta, Georgia; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Bryan, Texas;
and at Sam Houston High School in San Antonio, Texas
from 1971-1982. During those years Melody also
taught a variety of sign classes for various college
and continuing education credit. In 1983 she
began teaching American Sign Language classes at San
Antonio College and became a tenure track faculty
member in the Fall of 1996. She is a member
of Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Texas Society
of Interpreters for the Deaf, San Antonio Registry
of Interpreters for the Deaf, Texas Association of
the Deaf, National Association of the Deaf, and American
Sign Language Teachers Association. She is currently
TCDHH-BEI Certified Level III and is certified
to teach American Sign Language by the American Sign Language Teachers Association .
