American Sign Language Interpreting Option

The capstone course for the Interpreting option is a two hundred and forty (240) hour interpreting practicum. This course should be taken the last semester of the students degree plan. San Antonio College Interpreting Training Program has articulation agreements with many local agencies. During Interpreting II the student will have an opportunity to discuss with faculty what kind of interpreting setting they would like to have. The final placement decision rests with the program faculty and the accepting agency. Most interpreting opportunities happen during daytime working hours (Monday through Friday 8-5). Students must complete the 240 hours in the semester they are registered to take the class. If you are an evening student, chances are that you will need to make other working arrangements the semester you are enrolled in the Internship class.

Deaf Support Specialist Option

During the Advanced Techniques for Deaf Support Specialist / Service Provides / class students will have an opportunity to discuss with faculty their specific areas of interest. The final placement decision rests with the program faculty and the accepting agency. Most internship opportunities happen during daytime working hours (Monday through Friday 8-5). Students must complete the 240 hours in the semester they are registered to take the class. If you are an evening student, chances are that you will need to make other working arrangements the semester you are enrolled in the Internship class.
