Computer Competency Assessment at SAC

San Antonio College’s computer competency assessment is used to measure a student’s:

• Working knowledge of terminology and concepts required to use computer hardware, software, and systems.
• Competency in using the computer system to accomplish task efficiently in the production of usable documents.

The student should demonstrate the ability to:

• Access and use basic software packages, such as word processing, spreadsheets, database programs, and internet search engines.
• A basic understanding of the internal workings of the computer (i.e., how the computer stores, retrieves and moves data and files).
• Retrieve and store information, such as loading a file, copying a file, saving files, formatting disks, using the internet and using the online catalog.

The computer Competency assessment is offered in the Assessment Office in Fletcher Administration Building, Room 112. Call (210) 486-1443 for the current testing schedule. This test can only be taken once. There is no retest.
