A study of fundamental principles of living organisms including physical and chemical properties of life, organization, function, evolutionary adaptation, and classification. Concepts of physiology, genetics, ecology and the scientific method are also included.

Study of the chemical, physical and sensory properties of food; nutritional quality and food use, and diet applications.

A survey course that covers topics of current interest, including weight control, food labeling, diet in relation to health and physical fitness, and age and health related nutritional needs.
