Brief Bio: As President/CEO of the Vanir Companies, Herrera managed the operations for various affiliated companies and partnerships engaged in the land acquisition, construction, financing and development of residential, commercial and industrial real estate activities in San Antonio, Texas and San Bernardino, California. Herrera managed a portfolio in excess of $400 million in real estate assets. Herrera has served on numerous boards and commissions, including Chairman and President/CEO of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (the nation’s largest and oldest Hispanic Chamber of Commerce), Chairman of the San Antonio’s Planning Commission and current Chairman of the Via Metropolitan Transit Authority. His distinguished career has also included serving as an advisor on small business issues to former President Ronald Reagan and Vice President George Bush, as well as, to senators, congressmen, state legislators, the military and local government officials. He served as Deputy Administrator of the U. S. Small Business Administration from 1982-1984. Herrera has received many awards and recognitions for his contributions to the enhancement of small and minority owned businesses. Mr. Herrera currently serves as Chairman of the Board for VIA Metropolitan Transit in San Antonio, TX.
