Brief Bio:
Maria F. Davis was born and raised and experienced her early education in St. Louis, Mo. She attended Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. through her sophomore year. She then transferred to Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas. She received her baccalaureate degree out of SMU's School of Fine Arts( Music), with an equivalency in Romance Languages. Mrs. Davis not only was student of Romance Languages and Latin from childhood through college, but through her musical studies, she learned to love some of the greatest music in the world, created by German and Austrian composers, to such an extent that she also studied the German Language and became equally proficient in reading and speaking German during her early college years.

As a young woman, straight out of college she taught music at the elementary school level for three years. When she arrived in San Antonio, she was hired at what was at the time, one of the the Big Eight Accounting Firms in the United States. The firm's Chief Partner in Charge was pleased with her ability to communicate in person, on the telephone, and in writing the English Language. He hired her personally to work for him. Having come from a family of advertisers, sales promoters, and marketers, Mrs. Davis fell in love with the world of business and particularly the work ethic of certified public accountants and with the discipline of accounting. The result was that she returned to school, and it was from Trinity University that she received her Master of Business Administration degree. Straight out of Trinity University, in fact before she graduated, she was hired as the first woman to serve as Economist at the 11th District Federal Reserve Bank, Branch at San Antonio. It was through the Federal Reserve Bank that she returned to teaching, as she was often a guest lecturer at business functions and at many colleges and universities across the State of Texas during her FED years. During and after that time period, Mrs. Davis served on the Adjunct Faculty of the University of Texas at San Antonio, out of what was then the Division of Economics and Finance. Years later she served a ten and one half year career on the adjunct and full-time faculty of St. Mary's University. She was hired in 1995 at San Antonio College as an adjunct faculty memher, and during her first years in that capacity, nostaligcally was asked to teach accounting, the world she had left behind many years before to receive her MBA! Mrs. Davis has completed eighteen hours of post-graduate work in accounting, and six hours of graduate education.
