About the Center for Educator Preparation
The Center for Educator Preparation is committed to providing and maintaining an accredited, high quality and effective teacher training program to meet the needs of the education workforce. By offering accelerated and standards-based teacher preparation programs with flexible and convenient course schedules, our mission is to provide the emerging teacher with a foundation to make a difference in a child's life.

San Antonio College Center for Educator Preparation began offering courses for teacher certification in July 2003. Teacher certification can be achieved in the areas of Science, Math, Generalist (EC-6 th grade), and Bilingual Generalist (EC-6th grade). The program is fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency, the State Board of Educator Certification and is operated in compliance with federal legislation, "No Child Left Behind". The program seeks dedicated and motivated individuals with a Bachelor's degree who can successfully transfer content, ingenuity, life and work experience, and interpersonal skills into the classroom.

The faculty and staff are committed to serving children by providing highly qualified and effective classroom teachers. Our small cohort size, exceptional faculty, and comprehensive teacher training courses allow our students to promptly acquire current educational knowledge and skills while maintaining the integrity of the art of Teaching. In this manner, we aim to fill-the-need in teaching shortage areas.

The Center for Educator Preparation also established the Teacher Certification Advisory Board to ensure input from local school districts in regards to major policy decisions affecting teacher training. This Advisory Board is comprised of educational leaders from surrounding school districts partnering to increase the potential for employment and success of our students.
