Language Skills Center/ESL

The Language Skills Center has long focused on meeting our community's need for basic skills for both inner-city and metro area residents. Our division offers a variety of ESL (English as a Second Language) classes throughout the year from preparation (basic) to advance levels.

Our courses are organized and offered in four major areas. This includes:

ESL Prep (0 Level)
Fastrack ESL (Levels 1 through 6)
Intensive Engligh (Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced)
Conversation (Low Intermediate and High Intermediate)

Before a student takes a course, he/she must take a short language test (CELSA) and have individual advisement for proper placement. This is necessary in order to place the student in an appropriate level.
