| Law Enforcement Training Academy San Antonio College's Law Enforcement Academy has entered its 30th year of operation with guidance from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education. Since it's beginning, the Academy has provided certification training, which currently consists of 640 hours, to approximately 1,200 officers and specialized in-service training to over 1,870 officers annually. The Academy is also equipped with modern equipment for handgun and driver training. Its Dula-Tron System enables peace officers to practice handgun usage in a variety of stress situations with the safety of a professional firing range. Its Profiler Driving Simulator also enables peace officers to practice driving using a variety of stress situations. The Academy is approved by the Board of Private Security to deliver Private Security Guard Training. As a specialized part of the Law Enforcement Academy, the Intoxilyzer program provides instruction to certify police officers on the operation of technical equipment. The Intoxilyzer is an alcohol-breath testing devise used to help determine the offense of driving while intoxicated. The Law Enforcement Academy is operating in the Law Enforcement Training Center on the campus of San Antonio College. Dedicated space for this type of training consists of one laboratory and seven classrooms. Basic Peace Officer Phase I is offered quarterly along with Phases II, III, & IV.
