Planning a trip to the McDonald Observatory? If so, remember to check a "Moon Phase Calendar", like the one available on our "Skyline" web page to make sure bright moonlight does not hamper a long trip to enjoy the dark skies available at the McDonald Observatory. Also, call ahead and inquire about the average nighttime temperatures. After sunset it can get quite chilly at the McDonald Observatory, especially during the fall and winter! Don't forget the warm jacket, gloves and hat!
