Physical geography is a natural science and as such focuses on the natural environment. It includes the study of weather, climate, biogeography, endogenic processes, weathering, mass wasting, erosion, and wind, glacial and wave action.
Cultural geography is a social-behavioral science and is focused on the geographic components of culture. It describes and analyzes demographics, migration, ethnicity, folk and popular culture, language, religion, political organization and conflict, agriculture, industry, and resource use.
Regional geography is the detailed study of the geographic components of a particular region. It covers the natural environment (e.g., physiography, climate, vegetation), historical geography, languages, religions, agriculture, resources, and industry of the specific region of interest. It includes world geography, or it may focus on a smaller geographic region such as Mexico or the Middle East.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are systems of computers, software, and techniques that allow the analysis and management of spatial data. Learn more.
