Instructions on how to create your own Electronic Text (HTML Document) using MSWORD97.
Saving into HTML
Create your document in any word processor and save it as .RTF (if in MSWord you don't need to use RTF).
Open the document in MSWORD. Go to FILE and select SAVE AS HTML. OK through the formatting prompt.
AT THE SAVE DIALOGUE BOX
1) Place it: in PUBDOC drive >IRVIN >F99Web >your class time>your group folder.
2) Name it: Give it a name and type in the extension .HTM
Formatting
BACKGROUND--Go to FORMAT on the menu bar and pull down to Background. Choose FILL EFFECTS for "wall paper" backgrounds.
FONT --Select the text you wish to change by clicking and dragging across it. Then go to FORMAT on the menu bar and choose FONT. You can change the color, size, and style.
INSERTING GRAPHICS-- Go to INSERT and pull down to PICTURE. You mostly will go to the Clip Art files.
CAPTURE IMAGES FROM THE WEB--Point over the image you want, then right click the mouse. Choose SAVE PICTURE AS and save it to you’re A:drive. You can then insert it as a PICTURE and FROM FILE
Linking
Select the text that you wish to become a "link" by clicking and dragging across.
Once the text is selected, go to the button bar on the top and click on the icon with the GLOBE and a small chain (it shows two links).
At the top, type in the URL address for a link to a web site.
Click BROWSE and hunt through the folders to find the file inside our pubdoc, which you wish to link to. Click OK.
(Be sure the RELATIVE PATH FOR HYPERLINK box is checked).
